second defiance ≁ [voice]
It seems that clubs have been the talk of Hogwarts, recently.

Forgive me if I am mistaken, but I see there is no club dedicated to leisurely reading. Surely I am not the only one who frequents the library. If there is enough interest among the students, I would very much be interested in seeing what I can do about getting such a gathering started.

Whether the interest is in fiction or non-fiction, I am sure we can arrange something for everyone.

[!!! She zoned in on this entry like you wouldn't believe~]

If you need any help with such a club, Monsieur Raines, I would be happy to assist.

Ah, I was hoping to acquire your assistance. You have always been most helpful when I visit the library. [Pause.] Perhaps you would be interested in sitting in? I imagine it will be held in the library-- and even were it not, you would still be invited. You enjoy books as much as I.

Merci! I would be very interested in sitting in and hearing others opinions. This club could be quite beneficial to not only those participating but the entire school. As big as the library is, we can still grow and if there is a large interest in particular books I could do my best to see we get them.

How very kind of you, Miss Desrosiers. I truly appreciate your enthusiasm. In regards to the presence of such a club, I agree. It would do students well to read outside of classes.

Would you be interested in assisting me with picking out selections for the students to read?

It is a very good thing to be enthusiastic about! I am glad you suggested it. Perhaps the club could even have their own table of select picks for the rest of the school every so often. It could further encourage reading outside of assignments.

Oui! I would be happy to!

[Doubtful.] A book club?

[Then excited.] I'd like to join. I bet Lucy would want to be in the club too.

Would we just be getting together to share books? Or are we going to read them together and discuss them?
defiesthesky on November 10th, 2010 09:50 pm (UTC)
Indeed. I'm pleased to hear it.

A mixture of both, I'd think. Depending on what the students would prefer, it's liable to change. However, I had been thinking that perhaps there would be three or so different books for the students to choose from each month in order for everyone to, hopefully, be able to read a book they would enjoy. During the first half of our meetings, we could discuss those books, and during the second half, we may branch out into sharing and discussing other books we have enjoyed.
Rinoa Heartilly: curiousstarlithysteria on November 11th, 2010 03:25 pm (UTC)
Who would be picking out the books? You?

And will we ever take trips to visit other libraries?
defiesthesky on November 11th, 2010 10:33 pm (UTC)
That is up for discussion. However, I think it may work best to have one picked by myself, one picked by Miss Desrosiers, and one picked by a student each month.

Perhaps. If the club expresses interest in doing so, I would gladly approach the Headmaster to discuss it.

This does seem like an fascinating club idea Professor and if it does get underway I'll make sure to join.
defiesthesky on November 10th, 2010 09:54 pm (UTC)
Excellent. I will look forward to seeing you there, then.

[Although, he vaguely wonders how you'll have time with all those classes you're taking!]
Naoto Shirogane: Taking off glassescaseofthetruth on November 11th, 2010 02:39 pm (UTC)
I'll be looking forward to it. I'm sure it will be interesting to hear other peoples opinions about certain titles.

[And a job! This girl is busy.]
defiesthesky on November 11th, 2010 10:27 pm (UTC)
I agree. Other viewpoints, I find, tend to be very refreshing.

[Gracious. She must be Superman.]

When the weather is nice, you might consider holding the club meetings outdoors. I can arrange an area for you.
defiesthesky on November 11th, 2010 10:18 pm (UTC)
An excellent idea, Miss Gainsborough. I would appreciate that.

I wouldn't mind doing that in the least!

Splendid. The club is well on its way. Once the weather clears up, I will certainly approach you about an outdoor gathering.
bluemagics on November 11th, 2010 04:17 am (UTC)
A book club? If it's not reserved solely for students, then I would be interested in joining.
defiesthesky on November 11th, 2010 10:21 pm (UTC)
I don't see why other professors would not be allowed to attend. You are more than welcome.
Leoben Conoy: Thinkingpatternprophet on November 11th, 2010 06:14 am (UTC)
I would be interested in one.
defiesthesky on November 11th, 2010 10:24 pm (UTC)
Very well. I will let you know when this gets underway. It seems we have enough interest.
Leoben Conoy: relaxedpatternprophet on November 12th, 2010 01:07 am (UTC)
Thank you.

[Literature teacher, pinged!]

I can help out too, if you need it.
defiesthesky on November 12th, 2010 10:06 am (UTC)
You are the Literature professor, correct?
